Why God? Why?

Why? It is one of the greatest questions in the life of a believer. Why did this tragedy happen? Why did God say no? Why did His will seem to go in another direction? Why! Why! Why! What are we to do with the “why’s” of our life?

First, understand it is ok to ask questions, as long as you are asking the right question. Would having the answer to your tragedy or your “no” answer relieve you of the stress that they bring. Deuteronomy 29:29 says, “The secret things belong unto the Lord our God.” Some things God will not reveal an answer to. When my father passed away several years ago from the brutal disease Parkinson’s, people would often ask me why did such a Godly man have such a brutal disease ravage his body and eventually take his life? My response is that we live in a world as it is, not as it was intended to be. Sin changed everything. One day we will live a life without the affects of sin, but that time has not come yet.

Remember, I said it is important to ask the right question, and that question is not “why” but “who”. Who will be their in the dark, “why’s” of life? Who do you look to now? God knew the why’s would come and that is why he provided us with Romans 8:38-39. They say, “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things yet to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” This shows us we will not be left alone during these times, and we will not be unaided. God will be there in the midst of our questions, and we will find that it is the Saviour and not the answer that is enough.
